Pasta Machine

If you are considering buying one--Don't.

If you already have one, buy a rope or chain, take it to the lake or ocean, and use it for a boat anchor...

Amen! The only piece of a pasta machine that I've found to be of any worth is, perhaps, the dough roller unit. KitchenAid sells these as attachments for the Professional and Artisan mixer models, if you're lucky enough to have one. Beyond that, it isn't worth the frustration and additional grey hair. Use a knife for spaghetti/fettucine/angel hair, if you have the patience of a true chef. If not, buy fresh pasta at your local gourmet market. For ravioli, there's a clever little roller that cuts a ridged edge into any pasta -- also worth the time, if you're willing to spend it.
